Implantology

If you lose one or more teeth due to periodontal disease, or another cause, there is hope. Dental Implants are changing the way people live! They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. Patients with dental implants can smile with confidence!

What are Dental implants?

The bone heals directly onto the surface of the titanium, a process we call osseointegration, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. Small posts that protrude through the gums are then attached to the dental implant. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.

Evaluation

If like many others, you feel implant dentistry is the choice for you, we ask that you undergo a dental/radiographic examination and health history. During these consultation visits, Dr Abram will address your specific needs and considerations. Your questions and concerns are important to us, and our team will work with you very closely to help make your procedure a success.

For most patients, dental implants require a simple, minimally-invasive surgical procedure. First, implants are gently placed within your jawbone. The period required for your own bone to heal onto the implant surface can be as little as 3 – 4 weeks, depending upon the implant system used and other factors. After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins. Dr Abram will attach small posts which act as attachments for the artificial teeth. When the teeth are placed, these posts are invisible. The entire procedure generally takes less than 90 days. Most patients experience virtually no disruption in their daily routine.

Treatment Steps

A single prosthesis (crown) is used to replace one missing tooth – each tooth attaches to its own implant. A fixed bridge can replace two to four teeth with as few as two implants, one at each end. With adequate planning and a sufficient number of implants, all the missing teeth in your upper or lower jaw can be easily replaced. The number of implants varies depending upon whether the teeth are fixed and permanent or removable. A removable prosthesis is secured by attaching it to as few as two implants, whereas a fixed prosthesis requires additional implants, is permanent and may only be removed by a dentist. Dental implant treatment represents not only the most technologically advanced but the most cost-effective form of tooth replacement. Coupled with the level of care, skill and judgment exercised by Dr Abram, a qualified implant surgeon, one would be hard-pressed to find a more affordable option.
